本日はBootsy Collinsの97年作

「Hip HopとFunkが融合」した、豪快ダンスチュ－ンです

”非売品 US盤 Promo 12inch”の「Classic Freak Mix」でお聴き下さい

51年、オハイオ州シンシナティー生まれ。各方面からリスペクトされ、最も重要なファンクベーシストの一人、”Snoop Dogg”の伯父にあたる「William "Bootsy" Collins」

幼少の頃から、兄”Catfish Collins”と、音楽に親しみ、14歳で兄がギタ－、自身はベ－スで音楽活動を開始、67年には後に「The Spinners」で活躍する”Phillipe Wynn”と「Pacemakers」を結成

68年には、”James Brown”とセッションを行い、70年からはバックバンド・メンバ－として活躍、72年からは兄と共に、”George Clinton”率いる「P-FUNK勢」に加入、主要メンバーとして活躍します

76年には自らのリ－ダ－バンド「Bootsy's Rubber Band」を結成、「星型のサングラス、シェイプが星、色は真っ白、きらきらひかる装飾のスペース・ベースをトレード・マークに一躍スターダムにのし上がりました。現在もFUNKシ－ンの最重要人物として、精力的に活動しています

ドイツを中心にヨ－ロッパ向けに「Bootsy Collins名義」でリリ－スした、エレクトロ全開の97年作、マイナ－落ちでリリ－スはドイツ盤のみ「Fresh Outta "P" University」からのシングルカット

”Garry Shider(G)”、”Bernie Worrell(Key)”、”Fred Wesley(Horn)” の「P-Funk・勢」と、”AJ Gizmo”、”Teray”のMCが活躍、”Boogieman”がプロデュ－スした、「Hip HopとFunkが融合」した素晴らしい内容です

12inchカットは本国アメリカにおいて、プロモ－ション用に配布された”非売品 US盤 Promo”だけでした。US盤はプレス枚数が少ないため、市場には滅多に出回らない「貴重な12inch」です

グル－ブ感満点、”Bootsy Collins”の世界と「Hip Hop」が見事に融合しました

12inchは名曲「I’m Leavin」B面に収録されています。Mc Lyteの絶妙なMCが冴える、4分37秒「C&J Full Time Mix」は次回にご紹介します

Bootsyのベ－スラインが堪りません、後半のVincent Montana, Jr.のヴァイブが活躍する素晴らしいメロウFunkです
