本日はジャズ・ファンク総本山「Groove Merchant Records」が誇る

最高に熱い、激渋ギタ－奏者”O’Donel Levy”

熱いファンクがお好きな方を虜にする世紀の名盤をお聴き下さい

45年にボルティモアに産まれた、Jazz / Funkシ－ンきっての技巧派ギタ－奏者”O'donel Levy”、北米で最初の音楽学校である「ジョンズ・ホプキンズ大学」付属の”ピーボディ音楽学院”で学んだ音楽エリ－ト、卒業後はニュ－ヨ－クで”George Benson”や”Jimmy McGriff”のバックで演奏します

特に71年、オルガン奏者”Jimmy McGriff”のアルバム「Black Pearl」でのギタ－演奏が評判を呼び、71年「Groove Merchant」から念願のソロデビュ－を果たします。”ジャズ・ファンク・総本山”で不世出の名プロデュ－サ”Sonny Lester”が率いる「Groove Merchant Records」が誇る、最高に熱い、激渋ギタリスト”O’Donel Levy”

70年代は純粋なJazzファンからディスコダンサ－まで虜にした、幅広い音楽性で7枚の”名作・Jazz FUNK・アルバム”をリリ－ス、また、”Groove Holmes”と共作で1枚、”Jimmy McGriff”との共作で5枚のアルバムも作成、80年代に1枚、2004年と2005年には復活して2枚のアルバムを発表して精力的に活動します。残念ながら2016年に急遽、71歳の生涯でした

6枚目の作品で、「Groove Merchant」からは最終リリ－スとなるアルバム「Windows」は”灼熱の黒いファンク・グル－ブ”と”蕩けるメロウなサウンド”に酔いしれる至宝の名盤です

この名盤は残念ながら、LPもCDも廃盤です。一般的に耳にする機会は非常に希ですから、時間の許す限り、熱い音にお付き合いください
