New York出身の鍵盤奏者、歌手「Gary Toms」、60年代から”Jimmy Smith”のバックでツア－メンバ－として活躍していました



73年、地元NYで自身のバンド「Gary Toms Empire」を結成、メンバ－はHelen Jacobs (Vo), Rick Kenny (G), Eric Oliver (Trum), Les Rose (Sax), John Freeman (B), Rick Murray (Drs) Warren Tesoro (Per)の8人組




レコ－ドデビュ－は75年、PIP (Pickwick)から、世界初の「Disco Only Record」と称される”7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Blow Your Whistle”をリリ－ス、同曲シングル（邦題：ディスコでグー！）は”全米・R&Bチャ－ト・第5位”のメガヒットを記録します




グル－プとして2枚（75年、78年）、本人名義で2枚（77年）の合計4枚のアルバムをリリ－ス、NY産のゴ－ジャスなディスコファンクの名曲を量産しました

自身名義での77年の豪快なNY FUNKアルバムは邦題『ゲイリー・トムズのディスコ帝国』からのシングルカット、”全米・ダンスチャ－ト・第26位”にランクインしました。両面共にゴ－ジャスで熱い演奏はダンスフロア－では熱狂的に踊れます



US盤 12inchはダンスフロア－対応に「Special Disco Version」として、プロユ－スなアレンジがされています
