NY、クイーンズで49年に産まれた生粋のニュ－ヨ－カ－、3度のグラミ－賞に輝いたジャズドラマー、プロデューサーの”Lenny White”

10代の頃、60年代半ばからSax奏者”Jackie McLean”と共演、20歳の時、帝王”Miles Davis”から招聘され、69年の名作アルバム「Bitches Brew」に参加、「Miles Davisグル－プ」で活躍します

73年、”Chick Corea”に要請を受け「Return to Forever」に加入、”Stanley Clarke (B)”と「黄金のリズム隊」を組みます。”Lenny White”は特有の「オープンハンド奏法」を駆使、最盛期「Return to Forever」を支えます

「Return to Forever」は76年に脱退、ソロアルバム2枚を経て、自身のグル－プ「Twennynine」を”Carla Vaughn”、”Don Blackman”など歴戦のス－パ－ミュ－ジシャンと共に結成、コマ－シャルな「Jazz Funk」に挑戦しました

Rap聡明期において、Jazz Funk界で「Rap」をいち早く取り入れた金字塔たる作品です。帝王「Miles Davis」のグル－プや「Return to Forever」で活躍したスゴ腕ドラマ－「Lenny White」が結成したス－パ－グル－プ「Twennynine」の81年作

ボ－カルはRoy Ayers「You Send Me」の共同プロデュ－スやBill Summers & Summers Heatで活躍した女性シンガ－ソングライタ－の"Carla Vaughn"と、97年にソロデビュ－し現在でも活躍するベテランJazzシンガ－"Jocelyn B. Smith"が素晴らしいツインリ－ドを聴かせてくれます

12inchはプロモ－ション用で関係者に少数無償配布された非売品US盤 Promo 12inchだけのリリ－スでした。ダンスフロア－を意識したSpecial Long Versionへプロユ－スなアレンジがされています

Lenny Whiteを筆頭に"Twennynine"がRapに挑戦、Jazz時代からのファンには信じられない音創りでオンタイムには話題になった逸品です

うねるリズム、Groove感満点。Jazzミュ－ジシャンが創ったお洒落Rapです
