76年、リ－ドボ－カルとキーボード奏者の鬼才”Philip Oakey”を中心に、英国ヨークシャー州シェフィールドで結成された「The Human League 」




英国の「Virgin Records」から79年デビュ－、翌80年セカンドアルバムをリリ－ス後にグル－プは分裂・・・・・・”Martyn Ware”と”Ian Craig Marsh”は「Heaven 17」を結成


リ－ダ－の”Philip Oakey”はキーボード奏者”Philip Adrian Wright”と共に3rdアルバム「Dare」をレコ－ディング、81年リリ－スの「Dare」は”全英チャ－ト第1位”、”全米チャ－ト第3位”を獲得、全世界でメガヒット、大ブレ－クします




以降、86年には「Jam & Lewis」をプロデューサーに迎えたアルバム「Crash」など・・・・「第2次・British Invasion」の先駆け的存在となりました。2001年までに9枚のアルバムをリリ－スしチャートヒットを続けています

80年代前半、Duran Duran、Culture Club、Spandau Ballet、Eurythmics、Wham!そしてThe Human Leagueなどの英国New Romantic系ア－ティストが世界一の音楽市場アメリカで巻き起こした旋風「第2次ブリティッシュ・インヴェイジョン」




「成功をつかんだ女と、成功者となった女から別れを切り出された男」の会話を唄った全英チャ－ト第1位の「Don't You Want Me（愛の残り火）」は82年アメリカに初上陸し、見事Billboard Hot 100の第1位に輝きました



”UK盤12inch”だけの「Extended Dance Mix」、LPアルバム「3分56秒」から、Dub感が素晴らしい「7分31秒」の超絶アレンジ。Vocalが殆どないこのバ－ジョンはオンタイムのディスコで大人気でした
