ジョージア州アトランタで77年、”Billy Ellis (Flute)”、” Jason Bryant（Key、Vo)”、 ”Mary Davis（Vo）”、”Bruno Speight（G）”等により結成したグループ「Santa Monica」が物語のスタ－ト
全米各地でライブ修行中に「Tabu Records」の最高責任者”Clarence Avant”により発掘、79年、バンド名を「Sounds Of Success (SOS)」由来とする「The S.O.S. Band」に変名して80年にデビュ－
シングル「Take Your Time (Do It Right)」が”全米R&Bチャート5週連続第1位”、アルバム「S.O.S.」は”全米R&Bチャ－ト第2位”と”RIAA認定ゴ－ルド”を獲得する華々しいスタートを切りました
その後も「Do It Now (全米R&B15位)」,「Just Be Good to Me (全米R&B2位)」,「Tell Me If You Still Care (全米R&B5位)」,「Just the Way You Like It (全米R&B6位)」,「The Finest (全米R&B2位)」,「No Lies (全米ダンス2位)」など多数のヒット曲を輩出
91年までに8枚のアルバムをリリ－ス、うち3枚が「US Goldディスク」に認定されるなどシ－ンを牽引しました
