2. Odyssey の経歴

New Yorkで結成した3人組コ－ラスグル－プ「Odyssey」、メンバ－はバージン諸島出身の”Lillian Lopez”、”Louise Lopez”の「Lopez姉妹」と・・・・フィリピン出身の男性シンガー”Tony Reynolds”の3人です

デビュ－は77年、「Stuff」のメンバ－をはじめ、ニュ－ヨ－クを代表する凄腕ミュ－ジシャン総出のバックアップで、ヒットシングル「Native New Yorker」を含む、アルバム「Odyssey」を作成、「全米・R&Bチャ－ト・16位」に輝き、順調にキャリアをスタ－ト

その後も「Hang Together（全米ダンス・6位）」、「Use It Up and Wear It Out(UKチャ－ト・第1位）」、「Going Back to My Roots(UKチャ－ト・第1位）」、「Inside Out(全米R&B・12位）」と、ヒット曲を産み出します

85年までに「6枚のアルバム」をリリ－ス、独自の存在感ある、素晴らしいN.Y.サウンドを送り出しました

オリジナルは、「モータウン・レーベル」伝説の超大物プロデューサー・チーム「Holland-Dozier-Holland」の中心人物として活躍した、”Lamont Dozier”が77年に作曲

「自分の原点に帰ろう。生まれた故郷に、偉大なる大地に」と感動の歌詞を唄った9分を越える壮大なメロディーの名曲です

”Richie Havens”、”FPI Project (Italo House)”、”Linda Clifford”など、多数のア－ティストがカバ－する中、「Odyssey」はディスコ調に素敵なアレンジをして81年、”全英チャ－ト・第4位”に輝きました

US盤 12inchは、アルバムのメドレ－から、DJ現場で使いやすい「5分25秒」の独立収録です。ダンスフロア－を意識したワイドレンジの「Special Disco Version」として、プロユ－スにアレンジされています
